Good Intentions

New Years Resolutions: most of us have made them. If we are not careful, however, they end up being nothing more than good intentions. Good intentions are only good when they are put into action. One may intend to diet and lose some weight, but until those intentions are put into action, the pounds stay on. We all can relate to things we intended to do, but for various reasons, we never did them.  When it comes to 'walkin’ with Jesus, we should all have good intentions to walk with Him every day.  Many have good intentions in becoming a Christian someday, but continue to put off obeying the Lord.  Remember Heb. 5:9 says concerning Jesus, “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him”.  Good intentions must be followed by obedience.  Those who have obeyed the Lord have good intentions to be faithful followers of His. We intend to read and study the Bible daily, but do we? II Tim. 2:15.  We intend to pray daily, but do we? Rom. 12:12.  We intend to be with fellow Christians on Sunday to worship, but are we? Heb. 10:25.  These are all good intentions, but to be beneficial to us, we must put them into action.  Jesus said “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” Matt. 7:21.  Good intentions are only good if we follow through with obedience to God. The good news is, Christ can give us the strength to put into action our good intentions, Phil.4:13.
